What makes a post inappropriate?

Here are some guidelines to follow to ensure that your post is not inappropriate. This applies to the subject line of a post, the body of the post, your username, and your signature.

Do not post advertising - if you would like to advertise with us, please see our advertising page.
Abusive or offensive language including sexual references, racial slurs, or other language that dealnews.com, Inc. deems inappropriate will not be allowed.
Do not link to or mention competitive sites.
Do not attempt to circumvent our filters.
Do not post asking "why was my thread deleted." Use the contact us link at the top of page to resolve those issues.
Do not post content that you know will be deleted. Repeatedly doing that will make you a candidate for suspension.

Can I post text from other sources?

Yes, you may post excerpts from other sources (web sites, newspapers, magazines, etc). You may not post the full text of those other sources because that's copyright infringement. These posts must also meet the criteria for "appropiate content".

How can I hide images in posts?

If you are a registered user of the forum, there is an option in your profile. After logging into the forums, click Forum Options then Forum Settings. Set 'Show Images In Posts' to Yes. The images will no longer be loaded into your browser. In their place will be a linked url in case you want to see the images.

I have cookies turned off. Can I still use these features?

How do I link text or insert links into my messages?

Links will be automatically linked by just inserting them in your post.. To link text to a url, use this method: [url=http://dealnews.com]dealnews.com[/url]. To insert an email link, use [email]email@address.foo[/email]. Links will appear in text as just the domain name of the link.

Can I insert images into my messages?

You can insert images by enclosing the url to the image in [img] and [/img].

Can I format my message with bolding, italics, and other decoration?

You can use the special [ ] codes in your message to apply different style to your message. For example to bold something, you would enter [b]bold text[/b]. Other styles include [i]italics[/i], [u]underline[/u], [center]center[/center] and [quote]quoting[/quote]. You can also change the color and size of your text. For example, [color=red]Red Text[/color] or [size=20pt]20pt text[/size].
