A thought on the Sims, courtesy of .Mac renewal

Here's what occurred to me just ten minutes into the tutorial...

So you got these characters, right? And you want to prepare them for the futures. They have to be well-rested, nourished, and educated. Want a career in politics? Practice speaking in front of the mirror. Law enforcement? - lots of exercise. Etc.

Meanwhile, while your prepare your Sims for their virtual futures, YOU'RE SITTING ON YOUR BUTT IN FRONT OF YOUR COMPUTER, helping fake people prepare for their fake lives by fake speaking into the fake mirror or fake exercising in preparation for their fake careers.

Yeep! What a sobering game! :-)

Regards,

GtDS

And it is precisely because of that nickname that I chose the other game.

Popular with the under-18 crowd, with lots of time to expend.
From what I understand, part of the allure with the Sims is watching them fail.
At least that's what I hear from the squeals and giggles from the 14-year-old's girl's and neighbor's room upstairs.

After reading these posts, I'm getting afraid to install my new .Mac copy of The Sims. My life is busy enough already, even if it includes a great deal of time sitting on my butt in front of the computer.

my wife loves the sims, and as long as she keeps coming home with that $60K/yr salary I'll keep buying her every version and xpack.

I tried the sims, but it does SUCK OUT YOUR LIFE FORCE!!!!

I got a fever and the only prescription is...More Cowbell.
