How do you delete boxes around hyperlink text in InDesign?

I'm working on a document in InDesign and have imported text from Word that has hyperlinks. When imported into InDesign, the hyperlinks (email addresses and URLs) have boxes around them. I can't figure out how to make the boxes go away. I've tried to restyle them, but nothing works. The fonts used are TrueType/Opentype, which I have to use due to cross-platforming with client. I don't know if this is contributing to the problem or not. I've tried going back to the original Word doc and getting rid of the hyperlinks (Tools>AutoCorrect>no hyperlinks) , but that doesn't work either. I'm using a Quick Silver Mac with Tiger and plenty of RAM.

may be something in the css style or html code, can you post the code including css style sheet if you are using one?

Make sure the Hyperlinks Window is open: WINDOW>Hyperlinks

Highlight the URL with the box in the document.

This *should* make one of the lines in the Hyperlinks window highlighted
at this point you can either just drag that highlighted Hyperlink to the trash (from within the Hyperlinks window, not from the document), or double click on the highlighted element and change the box appearance to "Invisible box"

note: this is from my old InDesign 2.0 it might be slightly or completely different with your version.
