miffed at the Snow Leopard ....

while most of the improvements are nice on my iMac 2.4GHz Intel Core Duo, 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, I am plenty miffed that my reliable and stalwart 16/600 laserwriter has been made obsolete ... that old girl has chugged along for almost a decade with nary a hiccup and I bet she'd keep right on going if this finicky cat would let her.
Any feasible work-arounds would be greatly appreciated as I just love the quality and speed I get from this ol' girl

Connect via Ethernet and use its IP address to set up IP printing.

Why did you upgrade from Leopard if this printer was so important to you?
Another option is to get an Ethernet to AppleTalk print server. Apple lists a driver in 10.6 for the 16/600. [support.apple.com]
From a Raines Cohen T-Shirt: "The day Microsoft makes a product that
does not suck will be the day they start making vacuum cleaners."

(Someone has to say it)
Or you could just realize that even old stalwarts eventually can be replaced. There are a lot of really great, sub-$100 personal laser printers out there.

I also missed that "improvement" in the SL info so I lost 2-3 printers in my household full of Macs and printers. However, print sharing (from older machines running Leopard) saved me and works beautifully. Not sure if that can help you.

Google is your friend...
IP Printing with a LaserWriter 16/600:

How to setup IP printing in OS X (works for Snow Leopard, too):
Note that the instructions for IP printing assume that you're using an HP printer. Select the driver that matches your printer.
