There's dozens if not hundreds - do a search at versiontracker.com or macupdate.com. What type of calculations did you have in mind?

Define "better"?

What more do you want it to do? Does it calculate wrong?

$5 says you never come back to this post, like 99% of the rest of your posts anyway.

Wow. After using OS X for about eight years, I learn something new about the calculator. I had no idea that functionality was there.

Try looking under the VIEW menu as well.
Paper Tape! (print your calculations) RPN!

Does RPN too.

I still cannot see how they can manage to make such a nice, simple calculator app, and not let you open more than one of them.
It is such a pain.

I need to do fairly simple calculations all the time, but it usually involves a couple intermediate steps.
It would be nice to just be able to whip open an extra calc window or two to do some side calculations.

Just dupe the app, you can have as many as you want.

Good idea, Badger. And I didn't know about the green button.

I would like to be able to calculate more simply and quickly, by using the keyboard.

Me too. Had no idea. RPN rocks.

Aw, paper tape doesn't work with RPN.

Huh?

The number keys work with Calculator just fine.

Since were all musing about the attributes of a simple calculator whose many functions were overlooked because nobody seems to explore anymore, here's am interesting tome about a guy that continued working at Apple for free after his project was canceled & he got the boot.

Great story toetag. I never had much need for the graphing calculator, but it was fun to play with.

Learn to use RPN, and you may not need to have multiple calculators open. If you can't do it with RPN, then you may be better off with a spreadsheet. The Apple calculator can be used in RPN mode, as was mentioned above. Excellent emulations of several excellent HP calculators are available from [www.rlmtools.com] , such as the HP-15C (advanced scientific) and HP-11C (financial).

Wow! I had almost forgotten about Graphing Calculator! And it's nice to finally hear the story behind how it came to be and why it "disappeared!"

Thanks!

Note that when you set the calculator speech setting to "speak result," it says one more decimal of precision more than it displays.

I didn't know about the green button, either! Is that supposed to be a standard response from the green button? (My kids have been taught at school to refer to those things as "skittles.")
