Suggestion - Apple should issue an update for users to convert SL back to Leopard until the bugs in SL are worked out. Apple has a lot of nerve advertising that SL OSX is better than Windows 7. It's not true. Why did I pay to screw up my Mac? It was working great before SL! I'm considering paying to have SL backed out. It's horrible! Contrary to all the propaganda release 10.6.1 did NOT fix things.

Did you do an upgrade install or did you take the time to do a full backup, format the drive and do a clean install of SL? (I think I can guess the answer to that one)

An Upgrade Install should perform the same as a Clean install.
If not, it should not be offered as an option.

PW if you're implying that the upgrade path is just looking for trouble - why does Apple offer it?
It's not meyervilla's fault he got a bad results from an Apple authorized route to Leopard. If they
sell it it ought to work just as if it were done as you suggest. If it won't the don't sell it. Tell
everyone to buy the full deal erase their hard drive and start from scratch.

You guys who continually make excuses for bad performance on the part of these software companies simply amaze me.

Meyervilla, do you want to find out why your system is having problems or do you just want to complain?

If the former, what issues are you experiencing?

First of all, as a Mac user for the last 23 years, I've never seen an OS released where some people weren't up in arms over it. I may have had some bad outcomes in the past but since at least OS 9, I've sat on the sidelines and wondered where the problems were coming from. I've now installed SL on close to 10 machines of various vintage. On a couple of them I knew I was pretty much wasting my time because their hardware wouldn't see much benefit. However, all installed easily (most were updates) and I haven't experienced any real problems.

I can appreciate that others have legitimate concerns with SL but calling it an abomination is more than a little hyperbolic.

To reiterate:

Is there a specific problem plaguing you or are you just here to mindlessly rant?

What was broken before that you hoped SL would fix?
