software to back up Wii games?

I have a few games for Wii and some little kids who sometimes accidently scratch stuff, so I would like to be able to make back up copies of the Wii games that I have. I did a quick search online, but I didn't find anything Mac specific to do this and it was hard to tell which sites were legitimate.

Does anyone here have any suggestions for backing up my Wii games? I do not want to have to do a mod to the Wii to do this, I really just want to back up my games.

Thanks for your help.

David

Go to Blockbuster and join their Wii gaming club.

Get new games whenever they are released and if you kids trash the disc it doesn't matter.

The game manufactures work really hard to make sure you can't make back-up copies of their games for the same reason the U.S. Mint does this with money. There is rarely a simple solution, and far less often, any mac solution.

Game cartridges did have some advantages.

Have you asked Nintendo support what their policy is on trading in damaged discs? (If I were they I'd be reasonably liberal about this, given their historical target market.)

Good luck.

Lots of suggestions online. Seems like it'll take you some time to sift through what will work:

Not for the faint of heart, but what i did is hack my Wii to run homebrew software, and then installed USB Loader GX.

Once installed, you take a USB hard drive, and format it specially. You then connect it to your Wii.

The USB Loader Software lets you insert all of your games, and loads them onto the hard drive. I now have all of my games loaded on there, and the discs safely stored away. My kids can no longer destroy the disks.

The only drawback is that it is quite a chore to get it all set up in the first place

Can you provide the link on how you were able to accomplish this? Or maybe post the instructions?

No kidding.

I always think it is hilarious when someone asks for a solution and a reply is "Yeah, I had that problem and I fixed it."

Although the hard drive thing sounds cool, I am not sure that I want to mod the Wii. Some of the software solutions foofurrah found don't need this, I think I will further explore those.

If I figure something out, I will post the results here.

Thank you everyone.
