Ignorant question: Quality picture frames… where to buy?

I have some photographs, drawings, and some Bill Graham Filmore posters I'd like to put in decent frames to protect them.
I'm ignorant. Can I get some at Walmart? Or do I have to go to a frame shop? Or is there a better source?

Frame prices are insanely out of proportion to the vale of the product and service.
If you get one of those coupon-envelopes in the mail periodically, there will likely be coupons for a frame store in there. Or there may be coupons for a frame store in your Sunday newspaper.
Without a coupon, you will be ripped off.
With a coupon, you will be ripped off, but slightly less ripped off than otherwise.

Forgot about Michaels. I'll check it out. Same with coupons. I have a recycle can right next to my mail box, all those usually go into. I'll keep an eye out.
Thanks guys. Now I'm not so ignorant.

Frames are one of those items that very subjective and I think you need to see them in the flesh. That being said, both Target and ikea, have a pretty good range of prices and styles. You haven't said whether you plan to put mattes in the frames, I recommend you consider them, since they help the look a lot. I know that framing shops get a bad rap for over-charging but I would say that you go in and talk to them about what you want to do. They will be more then happy to show the options. You might not end up using them, but you'll learn about what makes a good frame, etc. My 2 cents.

Tons of good advice here. Thanks mnop.
This is going to be important to me when I stage my home for sale...
if I stage it...
let's hope the market comes back.

My experience is that good framing is an art form its self: that at a minimum should protect the picture it frames and hopefully enhance its viewing pleasure. Providence RI is filled with some great art schools and artists and many of them really like theses folks. <[motykaframe.com]; their work is fantastic and reasonable.
